Circle Meeting, Guest Speaker Helga Jensen

Helga Jensen is an award-winning Welsh/Danish best-selling author and journalist. Her debut novel was a winning entry in the 2017 Montegrappa First Fiction competition at Dubai’s Emirates Literary Festival. Her debut was also a contender for the coveted 2021 Joan Hessayon Award for new writers. Earlier this year, her novel Fly me to Paris was a finalist in the RNA Popular Romantic Novel Award.

Helga’s romantic comedy, A Scandinavian Summer, went straight to number one on the Amazon Kindle charts for Danish travel on its publication day. She has also had subsequent best-sellers.

Each of Helga’s books has a Welsh setting, as she strongly believes that Wales should be promoted in fiction.

Helga holds a BA Hons in English Literature and Creative Writing, along with a Creative Writing MA from Bath Spa University. She is in the last year of a PhD at Swansea University.

Her talk will range across having Wales as a setting in books, introducing slightly older characters in fiction, the publishing process and how she managed to get her first two-book publishing contract.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on Tuesday 10 September 2024. Everyone is welcome.

The meeting venue is the Taliesin Arts Centre (downstairs from the main auditorium), Swansea University Singleton Campus, Swansea SA2 8QD. There will also be a zoom link for those who can’t attend in person.
