Dawn Morgan:

I live in the Gwendraith Valley in Carmarthenshire and find it’s well worth making the trip to Swansea to see my writing friends at the SDWC, who have always been hugely supportive. Since joining the Circle, I’ve been inspired to take an MA in Creative Writing at Lampeter, which I finished in 2016.

I was thrilled to have a short story published in the Circle’s 2014 WWI anthology, which won the National Association of Writer’s Groups award for best anthology of the year.

I write fiction, including children’s novels, but I’ve had most success with poetry. My poems have been published by Writers Forum magazine, Paragram Poetry and in the 2015 Flambard Poetry Prize winners anthology.
My first poetry pamphlet, Blood And Other Elements, was published in October 2018 by Rack Press and is available to buy online from the Poetry Book Society and Waterstones.

I read some of my poems at the Lampeter Book Festival on 13 May 2019, alongside Gillian Clarke, former National Poet of Wales, and fellow Rack Press poets, Ros Hudis and Kathy Miles.

I was also excited to take part in a poetry reading at the Sophia Conference of the Sky, reading new poems about the night sky commissioned by the organisers, which are to be published in the conference anthology late in 2022.

With colleagues, I self-published an anthology of short stories in 2020 called Ugly as Sin, under the imprint Pentad Books.  This is available from Amazon
