Alan Bryant

After more than thirty years as a member of the Swansea and District Writers’ Circle the group continues to be an on-going influence in my writing. Circle members have enriched my life with kindness, advice and inspiration and I am privileged to count them as friends. It is a pleasure to be amongst people who share the love of writing.

My first attempt at self publishing on Amazon was a ‘how to’ ebook on house buying, The Householders’ Guide To Sanity. This was a huge learning curve and something I would not have attempted without the encouragement of the group.

Some successes in short story competitions have come my way and I’ve had a few published in anthologies, but most of my writing consists of plays that will never leave the page and stories that might never be read. Never mind, I enjoyed writing them. Once upon a time a long, long time ago, I read my work on BBC Radio Wales. But that’s another story.

THE NOVEL

If you found a baby in a bag with your name on it what would you do? Herbie is struggling to save his small coach business but he’s getting shafted by numbers as the bank is driving him to bankruptcy. His teenage daughter goes missing and soon after he finds a baby. But there’s a battle for custody. Will the child’s future be decided by love or the big money? Because money always wins, right? Well, maybe, but it’s not always that simple.

It’s all sex and drugs and adult language. And of course, money. Yeah, Baby, sex and money, either you want it, or you have it. But if you get it, how much is enough?

Set during the financial meltdown of 2008/9 and it’s a long way from Wall St.

AND THE SHORT STORIES

Tanks, Kites, and Timing are three short stories of soldiers in and out of the trenches of the First World War. Stories of mud, sweat and fear, of friends and enemies, and of those too battle-worn and weary to care either way.

It’s a blast, a real blast.

Dedicated to all those lions led by all those donkeys.
